For four decades Archie Macpherson has been one of Britain’s finest
football commentators. Instantly recognisable, he’s never been short of
an opinion or far from controversy. After joining the BBC full-time in
1969, he established himself not only as one of our foremost
commentators but also as a cult figure in our national life.

In A Game of Two Halves, Archie Macpherson gives us his unique
perspective on his life and career. As well as brilliant anecdotes including
his battles with Jock Stein, friendship and a spectacular falling out with
Alex Ferguson, interviewing Terry Wogan in LA in a Jacuzzi in an open-
top limousine and the Scotland football manager who took delivery of a
plain white envelope, Archie Macpherson also tackles tough issues like
sectarianism, the sad decline of commercial television and the future of
the beautiful game.

A Game of Two Halves is a candid, entertaining and thought provoking
autobiography which brings Archie Macpherson’s story and his passion
for football to life with all his characteristic insight, humour and honesty.
